BET's SoundStage Restaurant Redefines the Multimedia Dining Experience With An Interactive Television Production Flavor |
BET Rolls Out New Digital Production Mobile Unit Designed, Engineered and Integrated by Communications Engineering, Inc.
(CEI) Black Entertainment Television Selects CEI To Deliver 50 Foot Mobile Production Truck with 38 Foot Expanding Section Equipped With BTS Cameras, GVG 4000-3T Production Switcher & a 48 Track SSL Audio Mixing Console
Washington, DC -- June 20, 1997 -- Communications Engineering, Inc. (CEI), a full service broadcast engineering firm, was contracted by Black Entertainment Television (BET) to design and build a state-of-the-art, digital production mobile unit. CEI worked with Calumet Coach Company of Calumet City, Illinois to design and build a 50 foot production trailer which features a 38 foot expanding section and split rear axles for proper weight distribution. Final build out and equipment integration was done at CEI's facility in Newington, Virginia.
John Wesley Nash, CEI's Vice President of Engineering, remarked, " Because BET produces a very wide variety of programming, the mobile unit will be called upon to address events ranging from national sporting venues to large music concerts. Audio, in particular, had to be the highest quality and flexibility for BET, which bases so much of its programming on the music world." The operational layout and technology was designed to support an 18-20 person broadcast team for live productions which commenced in Washington DC in May. The mobile unit will support programming material for both BET cable channels, BET and BET On Jazz, as well as future live production events.
Rick Redmon, BET VP of Network Operations and Engineering, exclaimed, " We are delighted with CEI's impressive and flexible mobile solution which is fulfilling our goal of delivering high quality programming without compromises!"
The BET truck was designed and engineered to accommodate the widest range of anticipated environmental conditions out on location and includes extensive considerations for power, HVAC, soundproofing, operator console ergonomics, technology access and storage.
