Newington, VA – January 24, 2007 – CEI today announced the completion of a sophisticated systems integration project for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s (NCTA) new headquarters near Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.  The showcase facility features a 105-seat high-definition theater, an integrated board room to accommodate 34 members and eight other conference rooms with the latest in audio and video conferencing technology.

The two-story theater is capable of producing original programming as well as screening programs in various formats, including HD. It is equipped with Sony pan/tilt/zoom cameras and a projection booth with 35mm and 70mm projectors. The theater features a large “smart” podium that can control all audio and video functions through custom-programmed AMX touch panels. The facility also houses an Apple Final Cut Pro editing system and an audio management system.  The theater seating area is equipped with ButtKicker® low-frequency extenders to add realism to the audio system, which was built to THX specifications.

CEI also provided integration and installation service for NCTA’s new board room, which serves a 34-member board of directors. It includes two native HD projectors and screens, a 60-inch Plasma display, DVD, an advanced audio conferencing system and other features.  A smart podium allows full control of routers and conferencing functions.

Seven other conference rooms throughout the building and an executive conference room have similar features. In addition, CEI provided a digital signage system for the lobby area, including displays, audio feeds and an AMX touch panel at the front desk.

“CEI did a wonderful job, especially when you consider the complexity of the functions involved,” said Bob Haroutunian, principal for PPI Consulting, who was the primary consultant on the NCTA project. “They had to incorporate many attributes including broadcast, post-production and presentation, while working as part of a large project team to integrate the systems in a truly multifunctional environment.”

“This project required expertise with a wide range of equipment and environments, plus the ability to work effectively during a construction and move-in period,” said Joe Strobel, senior project manager for CEI. “Our team was able to meet these demands and help create a facility that is not only attractive but also extremely functional.”
