Newington, VA – March 8, 2010 – Communications Engineering, Inc. (CEI) announced today that it has completed the integration and installation of a high-definition (HD) studio and control room with editing suite upgrades for the National Air and Space Museum’s new “Moving Beyond Earth” exhibition, located in the museum in Washington, DC.
The museum contracted with CEI to design, engineer and install the broadcast systems for the exhibit. Visitors to the new exhibit will explore the history and importance of human spaceflight in the United States during the space shuttle and space station era and the future of the space program.
CEI’s role in the presentation center included design, integration and installation of a new HD production control room, upgraded edit suites, robotic HD camera systems, stage systems supporting the broadcast operations, and audience speaker systems.
Key equipment used in the project includes: Apple Final Cut Studio edit systems; Crown amplifiers; DNF Controls control panels; Digital Rapids live HD streaming system; Evertz HD/SD delay system, timing equipment, frame controller, amplifiers and closed caption encoder; Harris test equipment; JBL speakers; MediaMatrix audio devices; Miranda NVision routers; NEC and Sony displays; Omneon video servers; Panasonic HD cameras and HD/SD switcher; Shure and Sony microphones; TBC consoles; Yamaha production console; and Zaxcom wireless microphone system.
